Macbeth is a play written by William Shakespeare. It is the shortest play among the works of Shakespeare. I did not know anything about story till our teacher tells about it. If there are witches, there is a amazing event. I believe that, and I didn't stumbled. Macbeth thoght that He would be the only king of the country, but He failed by Macduff. The Message William try to give us is that, '' There is a landing in every rise.''

Romeo & Juliet

Last week, We talked about William Shakespeare. As I said, Romeo & Juliet is the most attractive work for me among the William Sahkespeare's works. In love stories, We expect that Lovers come together. But this works finale is not so. Maybe, If it  is not so, We people didn't watch it or know about them. Third grade students will play this work for Drama Lesson Activity. We're looking forward to watch it. Because Plays like kind of love stories on theatre are always  worth for watching.

Nowadays, Love is a game around teenagers. They think they love each other. But, When there is a problem, without a care they broke out. We miss the love when remembering Romeo & Juliet. I hope we find real love like Romeo & Juliet,  Even if it end in a death.

William Shakespeare

This is a great men in English Literature. Not only in English but also around the world. While He wrote comedies and histories firstly, He started  to wrote about mainly tragedies including Maacbeth , Hamlet, King Lear. He created characters according to his own purposes.

The most important work that I'm really interested is Romeo & Juliet. He was so important man that he was able to touch people hearth with his works. He wrote 194  poet and playwright. Maybe There won't be a man like that ever.

Dr. Faustus

It is a story about a man who sold his soul to devil. I learned only this but it draw my attraction. Because I like this kind of stories. Last one I watched on internet was Supernatural tv episodes like that. Story is about our day. But in Dr. Faustus, Time is Middle Ages or Renaisance.

Even then, People could write fantastic stories to draw attention. It can make us scared but we can see that Church's impression had lost. If It was not so, Marlowe couldn't wrote this work. If We still read this and like this, This is a great work for the world.

Renaissance

After  dark period, People needed to search a way to escape from churc's impression. As much as I learned from this week lesson, In Italy, New movement had started to come up. Church had lost its effect on people. During this period, printig press helped people to communicate with each other and People started to know about reality on the world. Humanism lead to this period.

In Stories, People were free for the things they wrote. Thinking was in development among the people. Architecture was developed and architects learn how proportions were applied in structures. As a result, Mankind is a important focus of existence in the world again.

What is the Canterbury Tales ?

Believe me, I had not known about that until the last lesson. Acording to my knowledge I took  on monday, The Canterbury Tales is a collection of stories written in the 14th century by Geoffrey Chaucer. The tales are presented as part of a story-telling contest by a group of pilgrims while they travel together on a journey from Southwark to the shrine of Saint Thomas Becket at Canterbury Cathedral. It is Chaucer 's most successful and well-known work. It is one of the first written works, so it is important for literature and our lesson. I should share that It likes our Dede Korkut Stories, I think. When think the time, I just remembered them. It was a good experience to know about these stories.

Literature course helped me beat my fear of against it. So far, I've heard the name of Beowulf only in the cinema industry. I learned that Beowulf is an Anglo-Saxon epic.  I scraped my mind this epic including heroism, war and revenge. When examining with more details, I'm sure that level of interest  will increase.

I think,I overcame my concern from previous years in this lesson. I was late for class but I went to the last class. As far as I understand, English Literature does not consist of just Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet. So far, It was the only knowledge about English Literature I knew. Everyone knows that is not the case when we make sense to think. I want to understand and know well chronological history of literature in this course with all my heart.

I hope that we can add more information on what we know crossing the line of literature we couldn't pass. According to my information from course, we will analyze social, political, philosophical and cultural features of  English Literature to 18th century. Analyzing several major works can help us to know more about literature Even if we won't go through all works.

Hope to see you in the next lesson.

I want to begin my words with things that evoke in my mind when I say 'literature'. In my opinion, Literature is sine qua non of society. But in high school, I did not like literature course. I used to write a few lines to tell myself everyday. My teacher always critisized me. I like to be criticized. Because other people's comments have helped me a lot. But his criticisms aimed to kill the feeling inside of me. I did not care.
On the advice of a friend, I started reading a book 'My Left Foot'. Christy Brown had wrote that book using only his left foot. Despite all the criticism, He had continued writing. After finishing the book, I was embarrassed. Whoever criticizes us, I learned to not give up what we know that is right. Since then, I've read a lot of books, and continued to write. I smile at life from the small branches of literature that I've created on my own.
Unlike some of my friends, I do not think this course will be boring. I think, Literature is the epitome of life. If we talk all periods of life in this course, I'm sure it will be very nice. I want to share a nice quote of Ahmet Hamdi Tanpınar. ''Without a doubt, All literatures are the expression of generations.''
I believe, We will express ourselves well in this course.
